Some people find geek culture through anime. Others discover it through a video game, a superhero movie or a series they keep discussing years after its finale. Comic Con República Dominicana 2026 aimed to connect those interests at a single gathering: its third edition, scheduled for October 24–25 at Puerto San Souci in Santo Domingo Este. The lineup brought together acting, voice acting, illustration, cosplay, video games and K-pop.
From Westeros to the wizarding world
Natalia Tena was one of the main guests announced. Harry Potter fans know her as Nymphadora Tonks; Game of Thrones viewers know her as Osha. These characters from two different worlds help explain her appeal to audiences who often come together at conventions like this one.
The official lineup also included Jack Gleeson, known for playing Joffrey Baratheon in Game of Thrones. The schedule listed panels for both actors, offering fans two perspectives from the show's cast. These sessions were part of the announced program; further coverage is still needed to verify how they unfolded in full.
The voices behind our favorite characters
Latin American Spanish dubbing was a major part of the offering. Announced guests included Mike Leal, Luis Carreño and Dafnis Fernández, whose characters are familiar to several generations of viewers.
Mike Leal is known for voicing Ash Ketchum in seasons 13–25 of Pokémon and Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan in Latin American Spanish. His career connects a franchise that accompanied many fans through childhood with a story aimed at older audiences.
Luis Carreño brought another connection to popular animation through his work as the Latin American Spanish voice of SpongeBob SquarePants. The organizers introduced Dafnis Fernández through roles such as Roronoa Zoro in One Piece, Gabriel Agreste/Hawk Moth in Miraculous and Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones.
RNN's October 24 coverage featured a piece on voice acting at the event. That report goes beyond the advance announcements, although it is not enough to reconstruct every appearance and highlight.
Cosplay: creativity beyond the screen
The audience also helps shape a convention. Cosplay turns familiar characters into costume design, makeup, props and performance, allowing creators to become part of the show.
Jemi TV's October 24 coverage highlighted costumes inspired by anime, video games, comics, films and television. The official program featured the Mega Cosplay MasterCup as a major attraction, with an announced first prize including a trip to MegaCon Costa Rica 2027. At the time of this review, we do not have verified results identifying the winner.
The lineup also featured Banana Cospboys, the Mexican duo of Luis Gamboa and Eduardo Peralta, known for their costumes and mechanical props. Their inclusion placed craftsmanship and stage performance alongside acting and voice acting.
A space to discover Dominican creators
Among the local names announced was Kosena Master, a Dominican illustrator and 2D video game artist whose work includes character design and creative workshops.
The event's offering also included an Artist Alley dedicated to illustrators and independent creators, featuring original works, fan art, prints, stickers and accessories. The official directory listed projects including TakanoSenpai Art Studio, Gabriela Taveras Art, Dear Monie and Neekoskywalker.
At Geek Boy Show, we believe this part of the event deserves attention in its own right. Discovering an illustration, meeting its creator and following their work after the convention can extend the gathering's value well beyond the weekend.
A program for different fandoms
The international stage schedule announced geek karaoke, trivia games, a presentation of the comic Costa del Faro, Mega Unboxing and Minor Pérez's comedy show Café Internet. It also listed paranormal-themed programming and a cosplay final. The organizers noted that times and activities were subject to change.
The announcement also included a K-Mecca Con block with choreography and singing competitions for the K-pop community. That variety reflects an effort to bring different interests into a shared experience.
Geek Boy Show's perspective
In our view, a Comic Con's appeal depends on its guests and the opportunities it offers people to participate: showing a cosplay, discovering an artist, discussing a story or meeting people with similar interests.
A fair assessment of this edition still requires verifiable results: attendance, winners, testimonials and an organizational review. The material consulted allows us to describe the offering and some reporting from the first day; it does not yet justify calling this the best edition or claiming that every announced activity took place.
